Lionfish World Championship! May 17th – 20th, 2018
Coast Watch Alliance, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Reef Rangers, Gulf Coast Lionfish Coalition, along with many other sponsors are hosting the Lionfish World Championship in Pensacola, Florida,
March 1 – May 17, 2018 – Pre-Tournament
Registered participants may compete in the Pre-Tournament for raffle tickets. For each Lionfish donated during the pre-tournament, you will receive 2 raffle tickets for the prize drawings during the Lionfish World Championship prize giveaway. There will also be a special drawings just for pre-tournament raffle ticket holders.
Pre-Tournament fish must be turned in and verified at specific drop off points.
May 17th – Captain’s Safety Meeting – 7:00pm at Flora-Bama Ole River Grill – 17400 Perdido Key Dr • Perdido Key, FL 32407
We are excited about our new venue for this years Lionfish World Championship. We will be partnering with the Flora-Bama Yacht Club and Ole River Grill. The Captain’s Safety Meeting will be at the Ole River Grill. A Team/Boat Captain for each team must be present at the Safety Meeting. All tournament participants are encourage to attend and meet fellow lionfish hunters. In order to be officially entered into the competition, all team member’s registration and liability release forms must be turned in by 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Click here to register.
May 18-19, 2018 – Lionfish Shootout – Gulf of Mexico
Lionfish may only be taken during tournament hours and the fish must be presented to the scoring station. Tournament hours are sunrise until sunset Friday 5/18/18 and Saturday 5/19/18. Pre tournament raffle entry will be allowed starting 3/01/18. All fish must be present at scoring station by the times and dates below.
The Scoring Station will be at Flora-Bama Ole River Grill – 17400 Perdido Key Dr. Perdido Key, FL 32507 The scoring station will be open from 3:00pm – 5:00pm Sat 5/18/17 and 8:00 am – 11:00am Sun. 5/19/17. All fish must be present at scoring station by 11:00am Sun 5/21/17 to be counted.
All participants need to read and understand the Tournament Rules prior to registering.
May 20th – Weigh-in and Awards
All fish must be present at the scoring station by 11:00am on Sunday 5/20/18. The Awards presentations we be at Flora-Bama Ole River Grill after the completion of the final count. Participants must be present to win. A team designee may pick up prizes for a team member that cannot attend the awards presentation.
Sell Your Fish at LWC
Halpern’s will be the primary fish buyer should you decide to sell your fish after they have been counted.They will be able to buy your fish at market rate or even a little higher. You must have a valid Florida SPL license in order to sell your fish. You must also be registered in advance with Halpern’s as a vendor in order to sell to them as well. Vendor forms will need to be filled filled out, plus your Saltwater Products License.
Once Halpern’s get this info they can get you set up as a vendor in 48 hours.
You will need to scan these documents and email them to : firstname.lastname@example.org and cc Barry Miller email@example.com m the controller. He will go through the paperwork. You must be set up as a vender prior to the tournament.They won’t be able to do them onsite.
Payment will be made within 14-28 days.
This is a great opportunity to get your commercial license working for you. They can also buy fish from Alabama seafood holders and we may have a place just over the line set up to make the transaction.
May 20th – Invasives Benefit Concert Featuring Little Texas
After the awards ceremony, there will be a benefit concert featuring Little Texas at the Flora-Bama Yacht Club. The concert will start with an opening band at 5pm. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Flora-Bama Yacht Club
